Abstract:The relative dynamic modulus of elasticity, compressive strength, flexural strength and the concentration of chloride in rubber included cement concrete treated with water or mixed salt solution were investigated. The mechanism of the degradation of rubber included cement concrete is briefly analyzed. The experimental results show that rubber included cement concrete performs comparably with reference concrete when concretes are immersed in water or mixed salt solution, however, under the action of wet-dry cycling, the properties of rubber included cement concrete is much inferior to that of reference concrete.Furthermore, the action of mixed salt solution accelerates the degradation of rubber included cement concrete. It is therefore suggested that rubber included cement concrete should not be used where long-term wet-dry cycling, hot and dry weather occurs or where sulfate attack may happen.
