Abstract:The aging rules and mechanism of styrene butadiene styrene block copolymer(SBS) modified asphalt under composite aging were studied by investigating the nano microscopic morphology, chemical functional groups and macro mechanical indexes of asphalt. The results show that composite ultraviolet(UV) aging has a much greater impact on SBS modified asphalt than thermal aging, and composite UV aging has a greater impact on low temperature performance, and the aging index is used as an evaluation index of asphalt aging; the number and area of asphalt “bee shaped structures” change due to aging. After composite aging, the Youngs modulus and adhesion of the microscopic surface of SBS modified asphalt changed significantly. In the infrared spectra of composite aged SBS modified asphalt, the groups at 966cm-1, 1376cm-1, and 1601cm-1 change significantly.
